Vehicle Releases
The Capitol Heights Police Department can only release vehicles that have been impounded by the Capitol Heights Police Department.
To have your vehicle released, the registered owner must bring: (1) valid, state-issued driver's license; (2) current vehicle registration; and, (3) $125.00 money order payable to: Town of Capitol Heights Police Department. Cash, personal checks, and debit/credit cards are not accepted at this time. If you were a victim of auto theft, the $125.00 fee will be waived with the appropriate documentation--e.g., an incident report from the Prince George's County Police Department.
All associated impound fees (i.e., parking tickets) must be paid in full prior to the relese of any vehicle to the registered owner. If you wish to have a vehicle released to you, it must be registered in your name. Signed-over titles without proof of registration in your name, from the motor vehicle administration where the vehicle is registered, is insufficient.
